“I can’t play a DVD recorded in my Sony camera. Do you know why?” - Jim REPLY Having problems viewing or retrieving files from a DVD: Maybe the disc wasn’t finalized properly after recording in the camcorder and now you can’t find the files or the disc won’t read (reads ERROR or NO DISC). If you did not originally finalize the DVD while in the camera you could put the disc back into the camcorder and try to finalize it. This may take care of the problem. We have seen cases where people have tried to record to the end of a DVD and this won’t allow room for finalization. If you use a Sony DVD in a Sony Camera it should stop you before you go too far. Before you use a different brand mini-DVD I would check to see if they have that feature. If nothing else works I know companies like AM TECH VIDEO, INC. can recover lost files.

What is the best program to use? ... It would depend on your needs and computer capabilities. For home editing I would look at ULEAD, CYBERLINK and/or PINNACLE. They are all consumer level edit programs. It is also important to check their specs needed for video editing on a computer. You might be surprised to find out most computers are not fast enough or have enough RAM to edit video, especially HD Video.
